Essential services will be uninterrupted during festive season closure

While offices close during the holidays, essential services will continue to function as normal.

The CoE wishes to inform its residents and ratepayers that essential services will continue throughout the festive season and are encouraged to log a call for service-related issues.

However, council offices will be closed on December 16 (public holiday), and from Christmas Day to New Year’s Day. Thus, the city’s offices will reopen on January 2. In addition, on December 24 the offices will close at 13:00.

During the recess period, residents in need of healthcare services are encouraged to use community healthcare centres (CHC) and hospitals, which operate for 24 hours.

While the closure of municipal offices will not affect essential services such as electricity and water, residents are advised to utilise the numbers listed below for emergencies or service interruptions.

• Life-threatening emergency line – 011 458 0911, from mobile phones dial 10177 or 112

• Municipal services call centre – 0860 543 000.

Residents are also reminded to pay their municipal accounts on time and utilise the online rates payment platform, Siyakhokha on www.siyakhokha.ekurhuleni.gov.za

The CoE wishes all its residents a wonderful festive season and a prosperous New Year.
