UPDATE: Two arrested in connection with the murder of Captain Wynand du Toit
One of the suspects had fled the province.
The Springs SAPS has confirmed the arrests of two men this morning in connection with the murder of Captain Wynand du Toit.
One of the suspects was apprehended at Pholosong Hospital and the other fled to Evander, in Mpumalanga, to seek medical attention for the gunshot wounds sustained during the shootout.
“He was pursued all the way to Evander where he was trying to escape,” says Springs SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Themba Tshabalala.
“The wounds aren’t serious.”
Tshabalala adds that the investigation is still ongoing.
Residents are reminded of the memorial service that will be held for Du Toit today. It will take place at the back parking area of Springs Mall at 18:30.
