Springs Premier U12 smash Birch Acres 6-1, Masango nets hat-trick
Captain Khwezi Masango led from the front with four goals as Springs Premier thrashed Birch Acres 6-1 to climb up the league table.
Springs Premier Football Club’s U12 side secured a convincing 6-1 victory over Birch Acres at their home ground, Veritas College, on Saturday morning. The win lifted them to sixth place in League 1.
Captain Khwezi Masango opened the scoring for Springs Premier. By halftime, the team was leading 3-0 with goals from Masango and Mabutho Zulu.
In the second half, Springs Premier added three more goals, including a third from Masango, as well as strikes from Ryan Burger and Vhutali Ramufhi. Despite their dominance, Birch Acres managed to score in the final 10 minutes.
Springs Premier coach AJ Burger praised his team’s performance, highlighting the defenders’ strong efforts to block Birch Acres’ scoring chances.
“When the season started, we were losing a few games, but this is our second win. I believe we are heading in the right direction,” Burger said. “If we keep playing like this, I can see us finishing in the top three.”

Man of the match was goalkeeper Lebogang Moeletsi, who was solid in goal and instrumental in keeping Birch Acres at bay.
Playing his first game of the season, Moeletsi expressed gratitude to his coach for the opportunity.
“I’m happy we won and that I could play. Being named man of the match shows my coach that I’m serious about my place on the team,” he said.
Masango, speaking on behalf of the team, said they were pleased with the result. “I’m glad I was able to score goals that helped my team.”
Springs Premier will face Falcon Football Club next week away at Spruitview Multipurpose Park, while Birch Acres will take on Olympia.
