Laerskool Selectionpark learners selected for U13 Eastern Gauteng hockey team
Venè Olivier, Janay Duvenage, and Megan Cunha will represent the region at the upcoming regional and national tournaments in Johannesburg from June 28 to July 2.
Three learners from Laerskool Selectionpark were chosen for the U13 Eastern Gauteng hockey teams and will participate in the regional and national tournaments from June 28 to July 2 in Johannesburg.
The learners, Venè Olivier, Janay Duvenage and Megan Cunha, will run out with the first hockey team as the three links. The school’s hockey co-ordinator, Lucinda Cronje, said: “All three of these learners are not only excellent hockey players, but also academic achievers. They were on the top 20 academic list in term one.”
She said they have been preparing by staying fit by participating in athletics and netball during the first half of the year.
She added that their hockey coaches and teachers, Johanet du Preez and Rouxvé Swanepoel, are very proud of them and support their great achievements.
“Year after year, our learners achieve great milestones in sport because of their hard work, determination and good sportsmanship. We are really proud of each of them,” Cronje added.
The acting principal, Johnny Oosthuizen, added that he is proud of how his learners are approaching these opportunities with confidence and achieving their goals.
