Springs MMA fighter set for high-stakes showdown at EFC 126

A mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter from Springs is set to compete at EFC 126, a high-stakes event scheduled for August 7 at the EFC Performance Institute in Johannesburg.

Gift ‘The Day’ Walker, a former champion representing House of Tinkerbell, has been confirmed for the main card, where he will face off against Sibusiso ‘The Monster’ Sovendle.

EFC president Cairo Howarth praised both fighters ahead of the bout, describing Walker as one of the division’s most technically gifted athletes and Sovendle as a relentless competitor with raw aggression.

“This is a fight with serious implications. Walker and Sovendle both want to make a statement – this matchup guarantees action from start to finish,” said Howarth.

Walker, known for his precision and adaptability, said he’s eager to represent Springs on such a prominent platform.

“Training is always good. I’ve got a solid team behind me, so I’m constantly improving and always in the gym. I’m looking forward to getting a finish any way possible, and I feel it’s attainable,” said Walker.

When asked about his opponent, he added: “I know he likes to kickbox, so I’m comfortable with wherever this fight takes place.”
