MEC extends NPO funding deadline

Gauteng extended the NPO funding application deadline after organisations raised concerns about technical issues with the new online system.

The Gauteng MEC for Social Development, Faith Mazibuko, has announced that the funding application deadline for NPOs has been extended by two weeks to October 30.

The MEC was speaking at the Orlando Communal Hall in Soweto on October 14 after concluding her quarterly meeting with NPOs in the province.

“During the engagements, some NPOs requested an extension because they had technical challenges with our new online application system. We assure the sector that we are addressing these challenges,” said Mazibuko.

She added that NPO could also email applications to NPOApplications.Socdev@gauteng.gov.za

Mazibuko stressed that the department remains committed to supporting NPOs in accessing funding and confirmed that the smart online application process would continue as the department transitions to a paperless system.

She further explained that beyond the application stage, NPOs are expected to submit their monthly reports and compliance documents online.
