Springs author urges youth to stay in school through powerful book

Motivational speaker and life coach Kudakwashe Thomas Muganu is using his latest book to tackle school dropouts, encouraging young people to see education as the key to long-term success.

Kudakwashe Thomas Muganu is a motivational speaker, life coach and author of Who Does Not Want To Quit School, a powerful book that highlights the transformative power of education.

The Springs-based author said he wrote the book after recognising the high rate of school dropouts in South Africa, aiming to remind young people that life becomes even more challenging without education.

“People are craving for fast money-making schemes, others call it hustling in the streets. I strongly believe that life is hard, but it is even harder when you are not educated. When you think better, you can do better,” he said.

He has started going to different schools to motivate matric learners and learners in leadership positions, such as head prefects, where he received positive feedback.

“I constantly receive testimonies from learners who were about to quit school due to bullying, academic failure, drug or alcohol abuse or teenage pregnancy,” he said.

Muganu said writing is his calling, a passion that developed when he was a young boy.

“When other children were playing with dolls and toys, I loved to play with magazines, books, drawing and writing. I love to be alone in a quiet and peaceful place.

“This is why I spend most of my time in the library, reading, studying or conducting research,” Muganu said.

His first book, The Power of Wisdom, was also well received by readers. He says he does not write to make profit or to receive accolades but rather to help transform the community by inspiring, motivating and informing.

Muganu is also a multi-award winner. He is nominated by the Icon Africa Awards in the writer of the year category.
He says he hopes to spread the message that education is still the key to success.

“It is high time for youths to arm themselves with relevant information if they want to excel and succeed in this 21st century,” he said.
