Local women recognised at Women of Stature Awards in Johannesburg
Two local women were recognised at the Women of Stature Awards for their impact in business and community work.
Two Springs residents who were nominated for the prestigious 2026 Woman of Stature Awards South Africa attended the awards ceremony on Saturday evening.
They were recognised as finalists in their respective categories. The glittering function was held at the Indaba Hotel in Fourways, Johannesburg.
Carmela D’Arrigo was nominated in the entrepreneur of the year category. She expressed her gratitude to those who supported her throughout the journey.
“Even though I didn’t win, I’m deeply humbled and grateful to have come this far,” she said.
Recognised for her remarkable contributions to the steel, retail and conservation sectors, D’Arrigo stands as an inspiration to many, embodying excellence, resilience and vision.

Monica Willemse, director of African Rewinders, a long-standing armature winding business in Brakpan, was nominated in the CEO of the year category.
“Although I did not win, it was a great honour,” she said.
The Woman of Stature Awards celebrate women of exceptional calibre, leaders, innovators and change-makers whose impact is felt not only within their industries but also in their communities.
The awards continue to amplify female voices, showcase success stories and foster empowerment within South Africa and beyond.
