Children play for their grandparents in a soccer tournament

Tonk Meter Crossing hosts soccer tournament for Kwa-Thema residents.

Tonk Meter Crossing hosted its Goals for Grandparents tournament on October 8.

This is an event hosted around every three months to stimulate the children and give them something fun to do with their friends and loved ones.

There were matches for various age groups as well as a boys’ and girls’ segment.

Certificates and medals were handed out to the participants and the volunteer coaches received cards as a form of gratitude.

Juice and snacks were provided.

“These children have very little do to over the weekend that won’t get them into trouble. We just want to give them an outlet for all that energy in a safe and fun environment,” said the manager and event organiser, Carolynn Weedon.
