EMPD Springs officers arrested two men after one was found with crystal meth worth R5 200 and unsafe food worth R6 000 was confiscated during a major operation.
The EMPD Springs precinct officers, together with environmental health inspectors and other eastern region units, conducted a strategic operation targeting illegal activities in the Springs area on the morning of January 2.
The EMPD stated that during the operation, officers responded to a tip-off about criminal activity on 3rd Avenue, Springs.
The metro police said that upon arrival, two male suspects attempted to flee but were swiftly apprehended.
“One suspect was found in possession of three packets of crystal meth with an estimated street value of R5 200. The second suspect admitted to being undocumented, which led to his attempted escape,” said EMPD.
Both suspects were arrested and detained at Springs Police Station and are expected to appear before the Magistrate’s Court soon.
