Springs Tigers marks first birthday with new kit launch and club growth

Springs Tigers Football Club celebrated its first anniversary on March 7 while also unveiling its refreshed orange kit for the 2026 season.

Springs Tigers Football Club celebrated its first birthday on March 7 and also launched its 2026 soccer kit, which is still predominantly its signature orange, just with a facelift. The club’s founder, Shalom Mazibuko, told the Springs Advertiser that the club had the time to reflect on its vision, which is the core of what we do and how that is coming to life a year later.

He said that their vision is to be an inclusive community-based football club for all, aspiring to be the most preferred club in Springs and the East Rand.

Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Thabiso “Skaapie” Malatsi was the guest speaker, and he shared some nuggets of knowledge with the young players.

One takeaway from his words of encouragement is DDD: discipline, dedication and determination, which was very welcomed by the kids.

The club’s head of marketing, Lerato Mazibuko, told the publication that the club has grown from five divisions in 2025 (U7-U12) to registering nine divisions for season 2026 (U7-U17).

She shared that these are exciting times, as they are seeing growth, which indicates to them that they are visible to the community and are becoming a soccer club of choice.

“We have been very intentional with our branding and the experience we give to our tigers as well as their parents.”

“This spans from the love our coaches show the kids and their approach to field training, as well as how we live out our mission to embrace the different skill sets of our players; all of that makes the spirit of Springs Tigers so palpable and makes our community join our club,” said Lerato.

The founder expressed that it was a delightful day, with the kids also getting to play on the field and showcase the new kit, and that they are looking forward to the new season. The club is still calling on parents who want to register their children, as limited spaces are available and they are filling up quickly.
