Promising young Springs cricketer rewarded with sponsorship
With multiple captaincy roles, a century, seven Man of the Match awards and provincial honours, Michael Kotze is emerging as one of Springs' brightest young sporting talents.
Michael Luke Kotze (11), a Grade Five learner at Laerskool Jan van Riebeeck, recently received the sponsorship from MultiSports South Africa in recognition of his impressive achievements, leadership qualities and dedication to the sport.
The young player has established himself as one of the area’s most promising young cricketers and currently represents Springs’ Laerskool Jan van Riebeeck U11 A Team, Springs Old Boys IMPALA Team and the Gauteng East Jaguars IPT Team for both 2025 and 2026.
As an all-rounder, Michael has accumulated an impressive list of achievements. He serves as captain of his school, club, and provincial indoor cricket teams, and has earned 7 Man of the Match awards.
Among his standout performances are an unbeaten century of 100 not out from just 56 balls, five half-centuries and a hat trick.

He was also the top run scorer for his club’s U11 team in 2026 and received a Coach’s Award for his dedication and contribution to the team.
Beyond cricket, Michael excels academically as a Top 10 learner at his school and also represents the school in rugby. He has been part of league-winning rugby teams in both 2024 and 2025.
Adele Kotze told the Springs Advertiser that the sponsorship is a significant milestone in Michael’s sporting journey.
“The sponsorship not only assists with cricket equipment but also encourages young athletes to continue pursuing excellence in sport while serving as positive role models in their communities,” said Adele.

She explained that Michael’s achievements extend beyond statistics and trophies. She added that Michael has a genuine love for sport and always strives to give his very best, both on and off the field.
Adele believes her son’s journey can serve as a source of motivation for other young athletes in the community.
She hopes his story inspires other young people in Springs to follow their dreams. Success comes from dedication, discipline and consistently giving your best.
Adele shared that Michael has shown that hard work pays off, and they are excited to see what the future holds for him. She added that Michael remains focused on his long-term goals.
“His dream is to continue developing as a cricketer while proudly representing his school, club, province, sponsors and community.”
