Umphakatsi we maSwati Traditional Council in Tsakani is inviting the community from different traditional groups across KwaTsaDuza and Springs to join them for the annual heritage celebrations.

The celebration will take place from 08:00 on September 19 at the Springs Civic Centre main hall.

Various stakeholders will be part of the celebration: CRL Rights Commission, Ekurhuleni Municipality’s cultural affairs heritage division, Department of Social Development, and traditional leaders.

The festivities will include performances by Sibahle Ngemasiko Emaswati traditional dance.

The council’s secretary general, Bheki Simelane, shared that the event will focus on education and raising awareness about social ills affecting the community.

“As a council, we hope to instil pride in cultural identity while also tackling issues such as gender-based violence, substance abuse, rape, and teenage pregnancy,” said Simelane.

Attendees are encouraged to wear traditional attire.
