Striders’ fun day
The Garbie Corporate Road Relay will take place on October 27 at Springs Rugby Club, starting at 8am.
Hosted by Striders Athletics Club, this will be a day of fun where teams can challenge each other over a distance of about 5km.
This day is not just for corporate team building, schools can also enter and other walking, golf or fitness clubs on the East Rand can enter teams.
All mixed teams must consist of at least two members of the opposite sex.
If any athlete runs or walks more than one leg, that team will not be considered as winners.
Prizes will be given to the first running men, women, mixed, U/19 boys and girls, U/13 boys and girls teams. The first walking men, women and mixed teams will also receive a prize.
A prize will also be given for the funniest dressed team.
“Be innovative, nothing is too bizarre for this relay,” says club secretary Rhoda Steyn.
All race numbers and batons to be collected at the venue from 7am.
Team entry fees are R150, R90 for walkers and R60 for juniors.
Rhoda adds all entry fees must be submitted with entry forms and entries without payment will not be accepted.
Refreshments will be on sale and a cash bar will be available.
