Springs lose in final seconds of game

The Springs Rugby Club's first team faced Vereeniging on Saturday at the Springs Rugby Club.

The game kicked off with a rough start for Springs as Vereeniging scored a penalty kick seven minutes into the first half.

With the opposing team taking an early lead in the game, they furthered their lead by scoring a try a mere minute after the penalty kick.

However, they didn’t manage to complete the conversion and lost the extra two points.

With the score now standing at 8-0 for Vereeniging, Springs wouldn’t back down and Quinten Petzer scored a try for Springs and put them on the board.

Johan Zondagh completed the conversion and Vereeniging was now in the lead by only one point.

Vereeniging then managed to score another try, but failed once again to complete the conversion and put the score at 13-7.

During the second half, Springs attacked with full force, but Vereeniging’s defense was strong and they retaliated by scoring another try and a completed conversion.

The score now stood at 20-7.

Schalk O’Callaghan scored a try for Springs well into the second half and put the score at 20-14.

About ten minutes before the end of the game, Springs received a penalty try and Zondagh completed the conversion, putting Springs in the lead by one point, 21-20.

After an intense battle to keep their lead, Springs lost when Vereeniging scored a penalty kick only a few seconds before the end whistle blew.

The final score was 23-21 for Vereeniging.
