Mighty Men, Die B Span, and Golden Oldies respectively secured the top three positions in the walking relay.

The Springs Striders came in with a time of 1:54:36.

Eighty-five running teams competed, each consisting of five runners.

The 41 walking teams had three participants each and completed the same route as the runners.

Some teams took part with their clubs while others mixed it up with fun team names such as Team Bacon and Eggs, Young and Breathless, Dark and White Chocolate, WTF (Where The Finish), and Shut Up and Run.

The race is the club’s only fundraiser event but it is more about cultivating interest in running with the public, says Striders secretary Rhoda Steyn.

Athletes completed one lap around the field and then left the stadium at Rugby Road from where they proceeded to Plantation Road.

All participants who crossed the finish line received a medal and a goody bag while the winners in each category were awarded a glass trophy.
