Pammies excel at Valkie Rugby day
Laerskool PAM Brink hosted a Valkie-Rugby Day on Saturday.
The junior players were delighted to meet the Lions mascot Mufasa, who surprised them at the sport ground of Laerskool Jan van Riebeeck.
Six primary schools, including the host school, were present on the day and included Laerskool Hannes Visagie, Laerskool Selectionpark, Laerskool Christiaan Beyers, Laerskool Delmas and Laerskool Jan van Riebeeck – which each played three games.
The u-8 team from Laerskool PAM Brink played against Laerskool Hannes Visagie and won the game 6-0.
Laerskool Jan van Riebeeck played against the Pammies and the final score was a 2-2 draw.
Pammies also had a 5-5 draw against Laerskool Selectionpark.
Habig and coach Jeanne Ross says there was great camaraderie among the students and coaches.
“These boys practised hard prior to the event and built up enough energy for the final games,” he says.
“Each of the junior players played with heart and soul,” says Habig.
The Pammies u-7 team won all three of their games.
The first game against Laerskool Selectionpark ended with a 7-1 score; against Laerskool Delmas the score was 8-4 and against Laerskool Jan van Riebeeck, it was 2-1.
Habig says young and old enjoyed meeting Mufasa, who definitely made the children’s day.
