Springs Rugby Club destroys the Rovers Rugby Club

Springs Rugby Club is in top form ahead of new season.

Springs Rugby Club trashed the Rovers Rugby Club Welkom by more than 50 points on Saturday.

The Springs-based team walloped the Welkom club with the final score being 70-19.

André Smit was in top form as he scored three tries for his team.

Coach Ockert Brits, however, is not resting on his laurels.

“We’re confident but we still have a long way to go.

“There’s still room for improvement as we made a lot of basic errors and we need to improve our fitness levels.

“For now, I would say we are on track with our preparations,” says Brits.

The team is preparing for the upcoming season and will look to win the Falcons League and then play in the Gold Cup.

There are a couple of new players in the team, alongside a healthy squad, healthy culture and team spirit.

Although they consider all the teams in the league to be their rivals, neighbours Brakpan and East Rand United are some of the teams they are looking to beat.

The team will also be competing in the Blue Bulls A-League, which includes strong teams like Tukkies and Centurion.

The club faces some tough games in the upcoming weeks.

They face a tough test at home on March 10, as they battle against Impala, the number one ranked club in the country.

“We’re just taking it game by game.

“The public can just support us by coming to watch the games and coming out in their numbers.

“Springs on home ground is always a very strong team,” says Brits.
