Legends heading to Swaziland
The Benoni Legends from the Benoni Northerns Cricket Club had a fund-raising event at the Pollak Park Golf Club in Springs on Sunday.
The Legends, who are “a bunch of guys still playing golf over the age of 35” according to their captain Craig Wittstock, do not play competitive golf and enjoy the game for the love of it.
Once a year. the team does a tour and this year they will be heading to Swaziland at the end of April.
They hosted the golf day to raise funds for some of their members.
“The day went very well and we had a lot of support,” says Craig.
“There is still counting to be done [at the time of publishing] and the amount can change, but if I had to give it a ballpark figure, we raised about R15 000 on Sunday.”
Jason Thompson was the overall winner of the day.
In other golfing news, Pollak Park hosted its Meat Competition on Friday.
