On Saturday the Springs Country Club hosted the first Chairperson/Captain’s Challenge, which was supported by many of the clubs affiliated to the Ekurhuleni Golf Union (EGU).
“We were also privileged to have Martin Saaiman, the senior vice-president of the South African Golf Association play.
“The feedback from all who played was that they were very impressed with what was happening at Springs Country Club and also that the course was in fine condition,” says Deon Kotze, the club’s golf captain.
The challenge was won by the hosts, Springs Country Club, represented by chairperson Christo Nortje and Kotze.
Local knowledge was more than likely one of the factors that made this possible.
“We all had a great day and the players urged Springs to make this an annual event.
“Christo and I both acknowledged this was the idea and that we would definitely be having this day in 2020 again,” adds Kotze.
“We would like to wish one of our juniors, Enrico Greeff, all the best for this weekend when he represents Ekurhuleni u-13 in a quadrangular tournament at State Mines.
“We are proud of him and trust he will fly the EGU and Springs Country Club flag high.”
