H20 excel at OR Tambo and Soncini Social Cohesion Games

These games take place every year October and are made up of six sporting codes: athletics, basketball, football, netball, rugby and swimming.

The third OR Tambo and Soncini Social Cohesion Games took place on October 26 and 27 at the Germiston Stadium and Delville Swimming Pool.

This tournament focuses on youth between the ages of 11 and 18.

Taylin Cronk and Joshua Erasmus were selected to represent the Gauteng School Team, which was also the winning team.

Other teams present were from Tshwane, Ekurhuleni, Johannesburg, West Rand and Sedibeng.

There was also a guest swimming team from Italy, Team Reggio Emilia, who took part in the games.

Erasmus swam in five events and received a first place for 100m breaststroke and a third place for 200m individual medley.

Cronk swam in three events and placed second in 50m and 100m breaststroke.

Both swimmers are registered with Team H2O swimming club in Springsm as well as Eastern Gauteng Aquatics.

The top achievers of these games still need to be selected to compete in Italy next year June.

Cronk and Erasmus are still waiting for confirmation whether they will be jetting off to Italy next year.

The coaches of the club are Heather Grafe and Challis Wright.
