Springs Old Boys Premier Team outclassed by Thembisa
Thembisa's semi-pro player, Enock Makama, took the game from SOB, hitting 64 runs not out to win it for his team.
The Springs Old Boys (SOB) Premier Team were beaten by a stronger Thembisa team on Sunday afternoon.
The home team started of well with the opening pair of Jayden Mostert and Karabo Malaka doing their best to restrict the flow of runs.
Mostert and Malaka got a wicket each during their opening spell.
They were well supported by the fielders, who were excellent on the field.
Malaka’s first wicket came from a excellent catch at cover.
SOB coach Lionel Joubert says the team’s fielding has been one of their strengths this season.
“We have defended a few low scores and restricted some good teams.
“Our bowling attack has been brilliant,” says Joubert.

The SOB won the toss and elected to bat first, posting a score of 111, all out.
“We had a bit of a collapse, and that’s really just the players’ inexperience coming through,” says Joubert.
Thembisa’s semi-pro player, Enock Makama, took the game from SOB, hitting 64 runs not out to win it for his team.
The visitors won by eight wickets.
Joubert says he has high hopes for this team and says even though they are playing with young players, they are doing well and can build on this for the future.
At present, the team is in the bottom half of the log.
The season has been interrupted by rain, which has disturbed the form of the team at various times.
The junior cricket team have been doing well, with the majority of the teams in the top half of the log.
There are three games remaining this season for SOB, and they hope to finish the season on a high note.
The club will host their AGM and prize-giving on Saturday at 6.30pm.
