Athletes break a sweat for the SPCA

Bags of dog food, blankets and other items were donated by the participants.

Local gym Born Fierce Functional Fitness hosted a fund-raiser at the Springs SPCA.
Fitness enthusiasts from various gyms around Springs were eager to join the event on a frosty Saturday morning.
Participants were treated to a rigorous workout plan, which consisted of sit-ups, push-ups and jump squats with very short breaks in between.
All proceeds from the fund-raiser went to the SPCA.

“We are very pleased with the turnout today. It was sort of a last-minute decision so we were a bit worried, but I’m glad it worked out in the end,” said Genevieve du Toit, who works for Born Fierce Functional Fitness and helped organise the event.

Vigorous exercises quickly warmed the participants against the cold weather.

Participants were treated to a warm cup of coffee and the children were allowed to walk the dogs towards the end of the event.
The SPCA hopes to host similar events every weekend to raise as much money as possible.
