Swimmers prove to be bowlers

Friends, family and Team H2O Swimming Club took to the bowling greens at Springs Town Bowling Club on Sunday at the swimming club's first official fundraising event.

With swimmers, friends and family all playing bowls, they were coached by the likes of Izak Hattingh and many other members of the bowling club, on how to play the game.

“We are quite surprised by the turnout and everyone are having fun,” said coach Heather Graffe.

The club is affiliated with Eastern Gauteng Aquatics and are using Springs Girls’ High School’s pool to train during the summer months.

Heather added they are a brand new club with about 15 children doing winter training at the moment, and use a heated indoor pool in Heidelberg to train twice a week

“The club’s aim is to coach and train kids of all ages to reach their full potential at swimming,” she said.

This is a family-orientated club and they are in the process of organising more fundraisers so they will be able to purchase a club kit and equipment needed by the swimmers.
