Crosstrek – the new Subaru kid on the block

The Crosstrek replaces the XV and promises to ignite your sense of adventure, as only a Subaru can.
According to Nteo Nkoli, the marketing manager of Subaru Southern Africa, the Crosstrek takes occupant safety and comfort to a whole new level. The attention to detail in refining and enhancing the formula is truly impressive.
The torsional rigidity has been improved by 10%, while the suspension has been re-engineered for greater stability and durability. The engine mounts now use liquid-filled technology for improved balance and refinement. Additionally, a new dual-pinion electric power steering system enhances the overall driver experience and vehicle dynamism.
Distinctive design
The Crosstrek boasts a bold, yet playful, design. Flanking the new 3D grille, you’ll find sharper headlight clusters, and the pronounced wheel arches emphasise the Crosstrek’s capability to take you where you never thought possible.
Inside, you’ll discover a multi-function steering wheel and a new 11.6-inch central display. The Crosstrek introduces wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, Bluetooth connectivity for audio and phone calls, and a wireless phone charging pad. The infotainment system also controls various vehicle settings, including EyeSight driver assistance features and X-Mode settings, among others.
Comfort features in the Crosstrek include remote keyless access, dual-zone climate control, a tyre pressure monitoring system, and steering-responsive LED headlights with an auto high beam function.
Driver monitoring and convenience
The Crosstrek incorporates a driver monitoring system that utilises an infrared LED and a camera to assist drivers in two important ways. Firstly, it keeps an eye on the driver for signs of fatigue, drowsiness, or lack of focus. When it detects these indicators, the system provides audible and visual warnings to prompt the driver to refocus or take a break. Secondly, the system offers the convenience of facial recognition software, which can store and configure up to five individual driver profiles. This allows driver preferences, including climate control settings, to be automatically selected and set up each time a driver gets behind the wheel.
Performance
Powering the new Crosstrek is a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, liquid-cooled boxer engine that delivers 115kW and 196Nm of power. The engine is mated to an efficient Lineartronic CVT (continuously variable transmission) that includes paddle shifters.

The Crosstrek will be available in two variants: Crosstrek iL and Crosstrek iS, with pricing set at R579 000 and R699 000 respectively.
