Easterns Hockey celebrates players chosen for World Masters World Cup

The players will represent the country at the World Masters Hockey World Cup from July 22 to August 16 in the Netherlands and Belgium.

Eastern Gauteng Hockey will have a strong presence on the international stage later this year after an impressive 26 players from the region were selected to represent South Africa at the World Masters Hockey (WMH) World Cup.

The prestigious tournament, regarded as the pinnacle of masters hockey, will take place from July 22 to August 16 in the Netherlands and Belgium, bringing together more than 400 teams from across the globe.

The global hockey festival will feature players competing across age categories ranging from Over-35 to Over-80, with matches hosted at renowned hockey venues in Rotterdam, Schiedam, Brasschaat and Breda.

The selection of 26 Easterns players is a proud moment for the province and highlights the strength, depth and continued growth of hockey in the region.

Easterns Masters Hockey Association (EMHA) believes the achievement reflects the commitment and passion of players, coaches, administrators and clubs who continue to build a strong hockey pathway from grassroots and school level through to senior and masters competition.

The large representation on the national stage is also a testament to the quality of hockey being played in Eastern Gauteng and the province’s ability to develop players capable of competing among the world’s best.

“We are incredibly proud of every player who has earned their green and gold stripes,” the EMHA said.
“These players embody the dedication, perseverance and passion that continues to drive hockey forward in our region.”
