Good bowls played in Mpumalanga central singles
The ladies open competition with nine players ended in a clean sweep for the Groblersdal ladies.
This weekend good bowls was seen on the bowling greens; even though it was extremely hot on the greens it did not hamper the spirit of the competition.
This bowls competition was played over the past weekend, January 12 and January 13 with the mens and ladies open and seniors playing at Witbank Club and the novices at Witbank Golf.
In many games excellent bowls were played and ended in a narrow shot difference.
In the mens open division, 12 players competed.
In the final between Glen Davies and Micus Grech spectators were treated on a very good game of bowls.
The final was won by Glen (Groblersdal) with Micus (Witbank Club) in second place; Micus was the novice winner in 2018.

The first three places were Michelle van der Westhuizen, Tina Erasmus and Charlotte Taljaard.
In fourth place was Marnel Price from Witbank Golf.
The senior ladies section with seven competitors also produced good bowls.
The final results were Max van der Westhuizen (MCC), Analie de Kock (MCC), Joey Kriel (Witbank Golf) and Elanie Joubert (Groblersdal).
The final positions in the senior men competition, were taken by Johan von Backström (Witbank Club), Herman Coetzee (MCC), Hennie Visser (Groblersdal) and Alex Buchan (Witbank Club).
In the men and ladies novices the final results were, Michael Grech (Witbank Club), Steven Price (Witbank Golf), Carlo Fourie (Groblersdal) and Francois Katzke (Witbank Club).

Ladies, Toni van Vuuren (MCC), Wilma Grech (Witbank Club), Ria Visser (Groblersdal) and Tammy Katzke (Witbank Club).
All bowlers (players) are reminded of the first Flowcentric tournament that will take place at the Witbank Club on February 9 and February 10. Excellent prices are on offer with the first three at R8 000, R6 000 and R4 000 respectively.
Teams of four men, ladies or mixed are invited to enter (no more than two provincial players in a team).
The competition will be played on a skins format with three games of 15 ends on Saturday and two games of 15 on Sunday.
Strength versus strength after the first game. Entry fee will be R250 per player (R1 000 per team) which will include coffee/tea and lunch.
Entry forms are available at clubs. Due to the large cash prizes it is expected that a good number of entries will be received.
