Over the years Witbank News has become an integral part of the community of Witbank/eMalahleni.

In 1903 the following appeared in the Middelburg Observer/Witbank News: “It is our aim to criticize when we feel that criticism is necessary and to give praise when praise is due and the job done, to the benefit of the public.” After more than a century , it is still the policy of the Witbank News.

Between 1903 and 1909 news about Witbank, was incorporated into the Middelburg Observer under the heading “Community News”. The Middelburg Observer and the Witbank News were published as one newspaper between 1909 and 1916. By 1917 the town had developed to such an extent that it justified having its own newspaper and the “Witbank News” was born.
