Tough time in the saddle for cyclists
The Cullinan2Tonteldoos Mountain Bike Ultra single stage event took cyclists and their support crews over 260km on unmarked district roads
For the cyclists from eMalahleni for some or other reason they had a tough time in their seats at this year’s Cullinan2Tonteldoos, except for one cyclist who managed to finish the race.
The race started on Friday, March 29 in Cullinan and cyclists had to cycle all the way to Tonteldoos.
The Cullinan2Tonteldoos Mountain Bike Ultra single stage event took cyclists and their support crews over 260km on unmarked district roads.
Cyclists had to complete the distance in 24 hours and the final cut-off was 25 hours.
The cyclists from eMalahleni that started the race were Wihl Vermaak, Andre Potgieter, Gert Janse van Rensburg, Damion Gomez, Jan Snoer, Ricky Peixoto and Jaco van Rooyen.
Many of the cyclists had problems on their bikes or they started cramping really bad and had to stop cycling.
Jaco finished the Cullinan2Tonteldoos in a time of 15 hours and 18 minutes.
