Junior tennis development on track

Play Tennis Promotions in co-operation with Western Mpumalanga Junior Tennis presented a junior development team tournament at Cambridge Academy.

On Saturday, June 8 players from Taalfees, Robert Carruthers, Curro, Cambridge and St Thomas participated in the tournament.

This was part of a series of tournaments that were presented at schools to expose the youth to the game of tennis.

Players participated in a team format that represented their schools.

Some good skills were displayed and the future of tennis in the city is looking very healthy.

During the holiday two development clinics will be presented in the region.

From June 19-21 a clinic will take place at Middelburg Tennis Club and from June 26-28 at Curro Bankenveld in eMalahleni.

The clinics will take place from 08:30 to 12:30 daily and the aim will be to introduce junior players to the technical, tactical and physical side of the game.

Cost will be R150 per player per clinic.

The clinics will be presented by Charl Basson and Anton Bolton, two teaching professionals from Emalahleni.
