1. Municipal strike actions:
The labour unrest continued today. At 10:00 we obtained an interdict against this and where staff will be acting in the disruptive manner it will be unprotected and the police will intervene.
The licencing department was still closed as the damage to the building was more extensive than originally estimated. It will be open tomorrow.
All services are being maintained but in respect of sewage spills and pipe bursts we are dependant on emergency contractors and will not be able to respond immediately in all cases.
Later today I will be meeting again with union leadership and after that may have a better indication on the way forward.
Additional security has been deployed and no further incidents of damage have occurred. Security will remain in place until the situation has been normalised.
2. Electrical outage:
Ext 16, 41, Tasbet x2 and 3 and Duvha will be without power for tomorrow 0800 to 1800 for urgent maintenance required at the Mopanie substation.
3. Residents please note:
Eskom plans to carry out a total shutdown of Ogies town on Friday 11 April 2014 from 09h00 to 16h00.
