NSRI tows boat into shore

The National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) managed to tow a couple from eMalahleni’s boat back to shore after they experienced difficultly at sea.

A couple from eMalahleni were towed to shore by the National Sea Rescue Institute at Witsand.

On Wednesday morning, October 28 at approximately 08:45 NSRI team were alerted following reports of a boat appearing to be in difficulty at The Bar, just off- shore of Witsand on the Western Cape.

Mr Attie Gunter, the station commander from Witsand said;

“on arrival they found the couple had encountered motor failure of the cabin boat and drifted onto a sand bar.”

The boat was pushed off the sand bar and then towed safely ashore; the couple did not require any further assistance with their boat.

“NSRI has not been able to reach the couple to get their permission to release their names to the media,” said Mr Craig Lambinon from NSRI.
