The hail storm last week damaged cars and houses and the lighting destroyed phone lines and appliances but the most shocking incident that occurred that day was the death of a 15 year old school boy. Jeremiah Makola was struck by lightning and died on November 16.

According to his brother Samuel Makola he was apparently waiting for a taxi near Duvha Power Station when the hail storm hit. Jeremiah as well as other pedestrians tried to take shelter under a makeshift hawker stall when the lightning bolt hit the shelter. The five other victims where seriously injured.
