It was an unfortunate weekend for two motorists as they ran over pedestrians.
Both incidents happened on November 22 at the N4 highway and Mandela Street respectively.
The first incident took place on the N4 highway between KG Mall and Highveld Mall. Mr Jacques Cronje was travelling from Pretoria to his home town Ermelo in the afternoon when he spotted a man wearing a green jacket on the road. According to him he says the man didn’t observe the road rules of looking left and right before crossing the street, he threw himself on the road.
As soon as Cronje saw him, he reduced his speed but unfortunately he hit him.
The first person to help him on the scene was a man who was driving behind him.
“I truly feel bad about what happened. It was not supposed to happen. My windscreen is damaged but my car as a whole does not have much damage. I am fine, I have no injuries,” said Cronje.
Four hours later at Mandela Street a similar incident took place where a man who was driving a Quantum heading towards Highveld Mall’s direction ran over a man. According to a police report he says the robot was green when he saw a man that was wearing dark coloured clothes appear from nowhere. He hooted and tried to swerve his vehicle but unfortunately he hit the man at his front left hand side of the vehicle.
