An accident on the N12 Highway claimed the life of a passenger in a stationary truck.

The collision occurred on July 7 at about 05:30 in the vicinity of Extension 16.
The driver of a white Hyundai truck, Mr Louis Sithole, residing in Maputo, had parked the truck along the highway at the side of the slow lane. According to police the truck was stopped due to a breakdown.

Another truck, a dark blue Hyno, driven by Mr David Mulaudzi, was travelling down the highway when it allegedly collided with the stationary Hyundai.

A passenger in the Hyundai sustained serious injury, both the drivers of the trucks sustained minor injury.

“The passenger was taken to Witbank General Hospital but soon after he was transferred to a hospital in Gauteng he passed away,” said Capt Eddie Hall, Witbank Police spokesperson.

Capt Hall further said that the passenger that passed away has not yet been formerly identified by next of kin.
