A woman, walking over to the garage, was allegedly raped by two assailants.
The woman was hitchhiking from Secunda to Mbuzini. She had received a lift from a stranger who, at her request, dropped her off in the area of eMalahleni.
This was on August 1, it was about 20:00 when they saw a nearby garage and she asked to be dropped off. She got out the vehicle and was on her way to the garage, as she crossed the road she was overpowered by two men, who forced her into the nearby bushes.
One of the men allegedly pinned her down as the other tried to undress her, she fought back. One of the assailants drew a knife and threatened her life, they then undressed her and both took turns at raping her.
According to the woman’s statement to the police, none of the men used protection.
The two men were reported to have stayed at her side till the morning when they fled as the new dawn arose.
The woman was then able to make her way to the Witbank Police Station where she reported the case.
