A fire broke out along the N4 Highway and spread towards the Witbank Police Station.
The fire broke out on August 20 at about 19:30, the strong winds carried the fire towards the Witbank Police Station where it took ablaze at the 13th storage camp where all the vehicles involved in cases are stored.
According to Sgt David Ratau, Witbank Police spokesperson, at least five vehicles were damaged in the fire.
“No case has been opened but we are investigating the cause of the fire,” he said.

A fire broke out in the vicinity of the Witbank Police Station, the fire caught five vehicles before it was put out.
He added that all five vehicles are no longer related to any ongoing cases and that the police intends to compact press the vehicles that were damaged.
“Fortunately the cars at the back of the yard are linked to much older cases and with most are no longer needed for investigation and will likely be compacted and scrapped,” said Sgt Ratau.
The fire was quickly tended to by the Emalahleni Fire Department, preventing any further damage to the police grounds.
