No new information has come to light after the escape of two prisoners recently.
Mr Mandla Sibanyoni, the Commissioner for Witbank Correctional Services (Paxton) stated on Friday, August 19 that the investigation has still not been completed, after two prisoners escaped custody on July 28. This following after he earlier stated, that the investigation should be completed by August 8.

No estimated date could be given by Sibanyoni when the investigation will be completed, and what the cause for the delay is.

Sibanyoni also stated that a preliminary investigation was conducted shortly after the escape. Earlier he said that he could not discuss anything with the media, as it may interfere with the investigation.

Mduduzi Johnson Khubheka was serving a sentence for attempted murder and aggravating robbery, while Vusimuzi Geraald Skosana was serving a sentence for theft.

The public is urged not to take the law into their own hands regarding this matter, but to rather report any suspicious information to the police immediately.
