Stuck in the yard after a hole in front of their house was left open
"What if they think of playing inside the hole and touch one of the cables. It could be a huge problem for us.”

A huge hole has been left wide open following municipal workers fixing a burst water pipe at Eric Rosenthal Street in Duvha Park.
The morning of Sunday, October 2 saw Siziwa Kumsha wake up to the daunting tragedy.
The problem was reported and on the same day the workers came and dug a hole and left it as is.
Kumsha alleged that during the digging she suspected electric cables were triggered as her house was in the dark with no electricity.

An old door was used to act as a bridge following the municipality fixing a burst water pipe but left the hole wide open.
On Monday, October 3 the municipality came to fix both the electricity cable and water pipe but another problem erupted, the hole was left open.
“What worries me is that the place is not even barricaded,” said Kumsha.
As a result of this, she is now unable to drive out of the yard as the hole stretches out in-front of her entire gate.

“We are stuck, when we need to get out we have to ask people for a lift as my car is stuck in the garage. We had to use an old door as a bridge in order for us to move from the yard to the street.”
She further alleged that she has tried all mediums to getting her problem solved. She tried calling and even went as far as posting it on the Municipal Manager’s Facebook wall but still her cry has fallen on deaf ears.
“I have children and I’m scared they will fall and get hurt. What if they think of playing inside the hole and touch one of the cables. It could be a huge problem for us.”
“The team is busy tending to the issue and the first two loads of backfilling material has been delivered on site,” read an email from the Municipal Manager’s admin co-ordinator.
