A small café in Voortrekker Street which is the stretch of road on the Old Middelburg Road before it becomes the R555 was robbed by two men who stole cash cigarettes and a flat screen TV from the shop. The only employee on duty at the time was the manager. He alleged that one of the suspects entered the shop to by a few loose cigarettes and then left. A few minutes later he returned with his accomplice in tow. Both of the suspects were armed. He ordered the victims to lay down on the ground while they loaded cigarettes, cash from the till as well as a flat screen LED TV into their getaway car and sped off.

Another robbery took place on September 27 as the manager tells a similar story. Two men came into the shop pretending to be customers while browsing one of them pulled a gun at the teller and demanded all the money in the till, they also took cartons of cigarettes.

The victims said that the robbers hit him over the head with the back of the gun and he fell to the ground. He just managed to see them fleeing the shop with their stolen goods. A business robbery case was opened. The victim could not be reached for comment.
