The local municipality will not withhold your vehicle licence when it is due.
The municipality caused quite a stir when they announced in November last year that no motor licenses will be issued unless municipal accounts are in order.
But during a recent council meeting this decision was discussed and reassessed.
Municipal Manager, Mr Theo van Vuuren relayed the message and said,
“When applying for a new licence and when renewing a licence, members from our credit section will immediately assess what amounts are outstanding on your municipal account. If any of you will be issued with a final cut off notice to correct your account within a few days failing which credit control actions, including disconnections, will be instituted. You will however be allowed to renew your licence. You will be required to bring proof of residence and your account number with you, without these we will not be able to assist.”
