Flo-Mia flat up in flames

Late Friday afternoon a fire broke out in one of the Flo-Mia flats, the fire was reported to have started in one of the rooms situated in the middle of the flat.

“I woke up and heard the fire in the flat, I ran to look for help,” said one of the residents.

The fire then spread out throughout the entire flat shattering all the windows and scorching everything in sight.
The fire was reported to have broken out at about 16:30 on Friday February 4.

One of the residents ran to make use of the extinguisher but said that the extinguisher wasn’t in working condition; they then called the fire department who according to the resident, only arrived an hour later.
By this time the entire flat had caught fire and the only thing that could be saved from the flames was a couch.
Fortunately no one was injured in the fire and the fire department managed to douse the fire before it spread out to the other flats.

The fire was suspected to have started in one of the rooms situated in the middle of the flat.

According to the Emalahleni Municipality, officials from the fire department received a call at 17:16 on Friday, and were on scene at 17:35. Three officers responded and attended to the scene.

“An investigation to establish the cause of the fire is underway and should be concluded soon,” said Mr Kingdom Mabuza, Emalahleni Municipality spokesperson.
