An alert went out to the police that a body was found burnt in Siyanqoba next to the dam.
On Tuesday, July 30, the police rushed to the scene and on arrival they found the body was burnt beyond recognition therefore it is unknown.
The police suspect that the body was of a female because of what seemed like a bra on the chest of the body.
A murder case was opened at Witbank police station.
Witbank SAPS communications officer Sergeant David Ratau urged the community to come forward if they know anything about the murder.
“It is impossible to state what the deceased was found wearing to give some sort of a description because it was all burnt but if anyone suspects that the deceased could be their family member or someone they know, please come forward. They can get hold of me on 013 655 5048 or 072 930 1521.”
He added: “There are a lot of bodies at mortuaries that are unidentified. When someone has gone missing, though it may be difficult but family members should not be afraid to check the family member’s body in the mortuary because there is a possibility that they may be found deceased.”
