A man was hit by a car when he was crossing the N12 National Road with his friend.
The police were called to the scene on Sunday, August 11 at around 19:30 in the evening.
The friend alleged that he and the deceased were crossing the N12 when a white car came and hit his friend.
He further alleged that the car did not stop.
The friend was declared dead by the paramedics.
A culpable homicide case was opened at Witbank police station.
Another culpable homicide case was reported on the N12 on Sunday, August 4 at 02:45 in the morning.
Phola police officials were called to the scene.
On arrival, they found two vehicles, a Toyota Fortuner and a VW Jetta involved in the accident.
One passenger was found deceased in the back seat of the Jetta. Seven other passengers were taken to hospital.
