A WITBANK NEWS client, Ms Linda Kamwana, had just put in her weekly advert and was on her way back home when bullets came flying over her head.
Kamwana was in the middle of a cash-in-transit heist on August 30 at around 10:45.
“Bullets were flying all over. I thought I was going to be killed today. Men dressed in overalls and with balaclavas on were shooting at the cash van.”
According to Kamwana, a bakkie that was apparently used to slow down the cash van during the heist rolled as the driver lost control of it.
She said men jumped out of the bakkie and a Golf also suspected to have been involved in the heist, and into another vehicle and sped off.
Kamwana said her first instinct was to get back to the WITBANK NEWS office where she knew she would be safe.
The robbers fled with the police hot on their heels.
No one was injured.
