Witbank, Vosman, Delmas, Kriel, Phola and Ogies police stations in conjunction with several other security forces managed to arrest a total of 91 suspects.
The arrests were for contravening the Level 4 disaster management act regulations that were announced on May 1.
These arrests bring the total of suspects arrested in eMalahleni since the lockdown was announced on March 27 to a total of 612 suspects that were arrested for contravening the disaster management act regulations.
The station commander of Witbank Police Station Brigadier Lindane Ndlovu said there has been an increase in cases where suspects have been arrested for selling cigarettes and alcohol.
Brigadier Ndlovu warned the public that the selling of cigarettes and or alcohol on Level 4 of the disaster management act regulations are prohibited and no business or private members of the public will be allowed to illegally sell these prohibited items.
He urged the public to phone Witbank Police Station radio control on 013 655 5052 or the National Crime stop number on 0860010111 if they have positive information on suspects who are selling cigarettes or alcohol.
Brigadier Ndlovu thanked the greater public citizens who are adhering to the regulations and cooperating with the police and security forces of Witbank to stop the spreading of the COVID-19 virus.
