After overcoming a very tough competition Zama Khumalo secured her spot in the Idols South Africa Top 2, alongside KwaZulu-Natal’s Mr. Music on Sunday evening.
As the current season of Idols SA draws to a close, the two contestants will be going on a tug-a-war next week Sunday since one of them will be crowned as the winner of Idols SA Season 16. Sadly, Brandon Dhludhlu did not get enough votes to reach the final line.
“Since the beginning of the competition in September, Zama always set the bar high for the other contestants and has been trending on social media, because she dominated weekly; not just as a female contestant, but a vocally strong gospel singer who transitioned into an Idol that is loved by her fans in South Africa and the world at large,” said the official Team Zama.
Zama sang her new Afro-pop single, flawlessly and effortlessly; brought her parents and the audience to tears as she performed the very inspiring song which is now available on iTunes and all streaming platforms, signified how Kalawa Jazzmee was a perfect marriage with Idols SA.
From the shy, humble aspiring musician, Zama performed for her first Top 2 offering the songs she previously sang for her final theatre week audition, ‘Without You’ by Mariah Carey and closed the show with her favourite ‘Change is Gonna Come’ by Jennifer Hudson.
“We fell in love with you the moment we met you,” Unathi said, while Somizi said on her last performance, “When you sleep tonight, you can do so knowing that whatever happens, you did it all. You killed it. You have given it your all that was amazing! You deserve a standing ovation!”
Next week South Africa will find out who is the next SA Idol is.

Idols SA Season 16 finale will be on Sunday at 17:00 on Mzansi Magic, channel 161.
