Life Cosmos Hospital and emergency unit remain operational amidst Covid-19 surge

Life Cosmos Hospital would like to re-assure the community that the hospital and the emergency unit remain open and operational. We have seen an increase in the number of Covid-19 admissions to Life Cosmos Hospital, as is the case across the country as a whole. At present, Life Healthcare’s peak number of admissions nationally has exceeded the previous peak by about 25%. We continue to ensure that our hospital uses its facilities in the most efficient manner to provide the most appropriate care to the maximum amount of people. As a result, Life Cosmos Hospital has set up a temporary 8-bed holding area outside the hospital building which is equipped to screen, triage and care for patients suffering from any condition. Here they will be kept comfortable until the emergency unit is able to attend to them or until they can be transferred to a suitable alternative facility if necessary. Any medical emergency will be immediately attended to within the emergency unit itself. Additionally, the hospital has postponed non-essential surgeries until further notice as a measure to manage the current hospital capacity. We encourage people with Covid-19 and non-Covid-19 related concerns to contact their GP/healthcare provider first for medical advice. Doing so will help ease the burden on our hospital emergency unit staff. We urge the community to help all hospitals and healthcare workers in combating the virus by following government and health authority regulations with the proper wearing of face masks (covering the nose and mouth), following social distancing and practising proper hand-hygiene. Adhering to these safety measures is in the best interest of your health, the health of your loved ones and our community.
