Home left in ashes after a fire

We lost all our food and belongings. If anyone has any donations to help my family, it would be appreciated

Standing outside watching endless memories burning down, knowing that the only clothes you have left are what you are currently wearing is and should be one of the worst situations to be in.

In the early morning hours on Monday, February 1, a park home at Masango Street, Phola caught fire and was reduced to ashes.

Sgt Thabang Petros Ntuli from Phola said: “It is alleged that during the incident the house was occupied by four people, luckily none of them was hurt or injured”.

All the furniture was burned including everything else inside.

The house burning.

Lindiwe Mkuna, a resident from the burning house said: “If my daughter didn’t wake up to go to the toilet, she wouldn’t have been able to let us know about the fire coming from the dining-room.”

Allegedly Lindiwe’s daughter woke up at about 03:00 to go to the toilet only to find that flames were coming from the dining room. She acted quick and everyone inside got out safely without getting hurt.

Lindiwe also said: “We lost all our food and belongings. If anyone has any donations to help my family, it would be appreciated.”

To donate or help in any way, please contact Lindiwe on 065 884 5628.
