Francois is safe

Francois van Niekerk is "safe, tired and hungry".

The 21-year-old Francois van Niekerk is safe.

Francois’s stepmother, Ms Cindy van Niekerk choked up in tears when she phoned WITBANK NEWS  earlier this morning and said they heard he is safe, tired and hungry.

Francois went missing on Wednesday, March 24 after an attack by militants in Palma, Mozambique.

Francois works at his dad, Mr Francois van Niekerk’s contracting business near Palma.The attack on Palma began hours after Mozambique’s government and the French oil and gas company Total announced the gradual resumption of work on the Afungi industrial project, near Palma, after the improvement of security conditions.

Total  had suspended activities and evacuated non-essential staff from the Afungi site after a series of insurgent attacks in December and January.
